The Mayor of Portsmouth learning about the benefits of the Silent Roof System
How Does It Work?
Eliminates the drumming rain noise
Rain noise on a roof is caused by the impact of the drop hitting the roof surface which is stretched tight like a drum. The construction of the Silent Roof System material has been specially designed to break down raindrops hitting it into tiny droplets, dissipating the kinetic energy and stopping direct contact with the conservatory roof. The open weave structure of the material then allows the water to drain quickly away.

Reduces the heat build up
Heat build up in a conservatory is caused by solar radiation entering the conservatory through the clear roof and heating the air inside. As the air heats up it is trapped inside and continues to increase in temperature.
Fitting blinds to a conservatory to reduce heat build up is an expensive and ineffective way of trying to overcome the problem because by the time the blinds reflect the sun’s rays they are already inside the conservatory and the temperature is already rising.
Plus, with some polycarbonate systems the temperature build up caused by blinds can actually damage the polycarbonate, causing leaks and unsightly marks. By sitting on the outside of the roof the Silent Roof System material stops the majority of the heat from the sun’s rays from even entering the conservatory, thus avoiding the heat build up. However, due to the open weave structure and translucent colour, light is still able to pass into the room below keeping it light and airy.

Cuts out the glare
An added benefit of the material’s structure is to diffuse the light which gets rid of the annoying glare that can be experienced in many conservatories – especially those with a clear polycarbonate roof.
Simple!
The Silent Roof System fits on top of your existing roof by way of individual screens that are made to measure on site, easy to fit, no mess, no fixing holes or screws. Roof remains watertight.
